Thank you for your interest in partnering with Habitat. The application period for our homeownership program will be open August 27 – September 19, 2018.
There are five phases to becoming a Habitat Homeowner Partner:
Phase 1: Pre-Screening
Set up an appointment with our Homeowner Support Coordinator, Sandy Wacker: email@example.com or call (402) 480-6205 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday only). During this appointment, you will learn details about our housing program to see if it is a good fit for you. An application will be provided if you choose to move forward to apply.
Phase 2: Application Process
***A $15.00 application fee is required by check or money order when submitting***
***All questions on the Homeowner Application must be answered.***
Please provide the following documents with your completed application:
- Submit previous two years tax returns, Form 1040
- Pay stubs for the last 30 days for ALL income
- Proof of legal United States Citizenship or permanent residence status for any adults 19 or over (Birth Certificate, US Passport, Legal Alien Registration (Green Card), Social Security Card)
- Proof of any income or public assistance (Child Support, Disability, Etc.)
Due to the nature of our evaluation process, it may be several weeks before applicants receive notice on the status of their home ownership application. The process is managed by our Homeowner Selection Committee. We will contact you and invite you to an interview if you are qualified to begin Phase 3.
Phase 3: Applicant Interview
The Homeowner Selection Committee will conduct in-person interviews. During the interview, you will be asked several questions. If an interpreter is needed, please provide one.
Phase 4: Home Visit
The Homeowner Selection Committee will come to your current residence for a brief tour.
Phase 5: Orientation
This meeting is conducted with all homeowners chosen during the selection period along with a family partner assigned to each homeowner. The orientation will provide information on expectations and how to get started.
Unfortunately, the need for decent, affordable housing exceeds our ability to build for every applicant. Many Habitat homeowners have had to apply several times before being accepted into the program.
